Naomi Nevill Profile
I have always been attracted to interesting patterns or vivid colour combinations, I love to paint and design.
I hope that my work reflects that love for art, for too long jewellery has been measured by the clarity of the diamond and the weight of the gold. Though I see the beauty of both and may use both in some designs, I will not put them in where I feel they are not needed to raise the profit margin, some of my best work has been made from silver and even copper.
Though the customer may prefer a certain medium, you cannot price a painters work on their canvas and paints, it has some effect, but you buy it because you are passionate about the art, I hope this is what my customers get from my pieces, they are buying time, effort and attention to detail.
My workshop has a classic jewellers bench as I use many traditional jewellery techniques to create my pieces, I enjoy all aspects of the field but my main interests are enamelling, metal forming and wax carving. Despite creating quite contemporary pieces I believe mastering the basic jewellery making skills to be very important.
I love creating all my own designs and doing detailed paintings of my pieces, along with my wax carving this has lead to interest from large companies such as annoushka-jewellery.com contracting me for these skills.
I graduated from UCA Rochester in 2014, I received an upper second class honours. Since then I have won quite a few prestigious awards and the Queen Elizabeth creative scholarship.
