Treatments: Indication of heating present and minor residue in healed fissures
Rubies from Madagascar have emerged as a prominent choice in the gemstone market due to their striking color and natural brilliance. Discovered relatively recently compared to other sources, rubies from Madagascar—especially those from the Andilamena and Vatomandry regions—often exhibit vibrant red to pinkish-red hues with good clarity and size. These gems are admired for their beauty and are increasingly sought after by both jewelers and collectors. With their growing reputation and unique geological origins, rubies from Madagascar are making a significant mark in the world of fine gemstones.
Treated by way of Flux Heating, a method where a stone is present with a crack or split and is placed in a canister of flux material such as borax, which is then melted, filling the present cracks and allowing the stone to essentially heal by itself as it closes the crack, pushing majority of the flux out. However most of the time, flux residue is left in the stone, which helps confirm it's status as a treated gem.
Minor Residue:
The term "minor residue" implies that the amount of this glass-like material present in the fissures is relatively small. It's less extensive than other types of treatments, such as fracture filling with glass.
